Thorney Mire House, in beautiful Wensleydale, is a traditional Dales house in an idyllic setting. Surrounded by fells, flower filled meadows, woodland and flowing becks, its location makes it an ideal place for you to "get away from it all" yet it is less than two miles from the amenities of the small market town of Hawes.

Formerly a farmhouse and once part of a large farming estate, the house has recently been refurbished throughout to a high standard and a lot of thought has been given in the hope that your stay will be a pleasant and enjoyable one. Thorney Mire has three acres of private woodland where wildlife remains undisturbed and roe deer graze in the surrounding fields. It is an ideal place for bird watchers. Buzzards can often be seen circling around and curlews fill the air with their plaintive cry. Woodpeckers, nuthatch, dippers, owls, flycatchers and wheatears can be seen at various times of the year.

Breakfast

For breakfast we offer a choice of fresh fruit, fruit juice, cereals and yoghurt, followed by a full English breakfast. Our bread is home made and served with jam, marmalade or honey. If a full English breakfast is not to your liking maybe you would prefer eggs cooked to your choice. Our own free ranging chickens, some of which are rare breeds, provide fresh eggs for breakfast each morning. Vegetarian breakfasts are also available.
