Upper Wensleydale provides a wide range of accommodation. Choose from luxury hotels, traditional inns, country guest houses, homely bed and breakfast in farmhouses and cottages, self-catering properties, youth hostels, caravan and camping sites. Many excellent teashops, cafés, restaurants and inns offer everything from a "cuppa" to bar snacks and traditional or gourmet meals to suit every appetite and pocket. Local produce is available including Wensleydale cheese.

When you are looking for a place to stay you need a rating system you can trust. VisitBritain’s ratings are your clear guide to what to expect, in an easy to understand form. Properties are visited annually by trained, impartial assessors, so you can have confidence that your accommodation has been thoroughly checked and rated for quality before you make a booking.
Using a simple one to five rating, it puts great emphasis on quality and is based on research which showed exactly what consumers are looking for when choosing accommodation.
The following descriptions of what to expect apply to all types of accommodation. Use them as a general guide to what you can expect.
1 star: Simple, practical, no frills.
2 star: Well presented and well run.
3 star: Good level of quality and comfort.
4 star: Excellent standard throughout.
5 star: Exceptional with a degree of luxury.
Gold and Silver Awards
These are awarded to properties that not only achieve their overall rating but also exceed the expectations within their rating level. The awards recognise the high level of comfort, cleanliness, hospitality and service afforded.
Silver – this award recognises high quality in all areas of the business, with very good levels of customer care.
Gold – properties achieving a Gold award will demonstrate exceptional levels of quality, comfort, cleanliness, hospitality and attentive service.
